The Hazardous Waste program establishes requirements for hazardous waste operations and emergency response. We have adopted this program as an extension of our overall safety and health program and to implement the OSHA standard “Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response”, 29 C.F.R. §1910.120.
That OSHA standard requires that: Each employer shall develop and implement a safety and health program for its employees involved in hazardous waste operations.
Personnel actively involved in investigations and cleanup at a hazardous waste site must be thoroughly familiar with health and safety programs and procedures and must be specially trained to work safely in contaminated areas.
